Les effets positifs des contextes éducatifs préscolaires sur le développement langagier des en-fants et par conséquent sur leur réussite éducative subséquente sont maintenant reconnus, particulièrement auprès des enfants provenant de milieux vulnérables sur le plan socio-économique (Dickinson, 2011). En effet, les enfants ont l’occasion d’y expérimenter de façon quotidienne des interactions riches et diversifiées avec les enseignant.es, susceptibles d’étayer leur langage (Pence et al., 2008). Or, la qualité du soutien au développement langagier offert, qui dépend entre autres de la capacité de l’enseignante à observer et à ainsi s’adapter au niveau de développement langagier de chaque enfant, est très hétérogène d’une groupe à l’autre (Bou-chard et al., 2010; Girolametto et al., 2002). En Belgique francophone, où l’orthophonie dite préventive est encore peu développée, les ensei-gnantes de maternelle font état d’un manque d’outils et de connaissances pour observer le déve-loppement langagier des enfants. L’outil SOLEM (Soutenir et Observer le Langage des Enfants en Maternelle) a été développé pour répondre à ce besoin. MÉTHODE Quatre groupes nominaux ont été réalisés auprès de 39 enseignants, agents psycho-médico-sociaux et directions d’écoles afin d’identifier leurs besoins. Un prototype de l’outil d’observation a été développé et mis à l’essai dans 10 classes pilotes, afin d’en valider la forme et le contenu. 4 enfants par groupe ont été évalué de façon parallèle avec l’Évaluation du Langage Oral (ELO), afin de faire état de la validité concurrente de l’outil SOLEM. RÉSULTATS SOLEM a été développé à partir de constats issus des groupes nominaux : accorder de l’importance aux aspects moins formels du langage, avoir une démarche en arborescence adap-tée à chaque enfant, qui mène à des pistes d’actions adaptées. Les premières mises à l’essai semblent confirmer que SOLEM répond au besoin exprimé par les enseignants.es : identifier les enfants qui ont besoin d’un soutien spécifique sur le plan du développement langagier et obser-ver leur communication pour y ajuster le soutien offert. Les résultats permettent d’aborder une réflexion sur comment l’observation du développement langagier des enfants par l’enseignant.e peut introduire la mise en place de pratiques de soutien aux habiletés langagières dans les groupes de maternelle. The assessment of adaptive facades presents a barrier in light of the fact that there is no settled assessment technique se to systematically reach this goal. Many of the available façade performance evaluation systems or frameworks have restricted applicability for such advanced building facades. The complexity of adaptive or dynamic facades evaluation is related to the performance evaluation of façade elements, systems and overall building performance coupled to occupant behavior and occupant satisfaction. In this context, we present\s a case study for an adaptive sunscreens façade and evaluate its performance and occupant behavior. The evaluation focuses mainly on pre and post construction phase of adaptive facades: The design assist phase (including the durability test, visual mockup, onsite mashrabiya mounting and weather stripping), the commissioning phase (field verification and performance testing) and the monitoring phase. The selected project is a 150 meters high twin tower that stands with honey-comb inspired structure and automated dynamic solar screen that responds to the sun’s movement. These solar screens respond dynamically and automatically to the angle of the sun which improves the control over energy consumption, solar radiation and glare with the ability to admit natural light into the building. The paper is part of the research activities of working group 3 of the European COST Action 1403 on “Adaptive Facades “. Different methods were used for evaluation, this include: interviews with the architect and façade engineer and technical control specialist, occupants, reviews of standard and codes, review of energy models and a systematic design process mapping. A documentation of the case study describing the post construction occupant comfort, and façade operation was prepared. This paper’s audience is mainly project managers, architects, building façade engineers together with facility managers concerned with the process of design, construction and operation of adaptive sunscreens facades. The outcome of this study identifies quantifiable performance indicators and effective strategies for the design and performance evaluation of optimal adaptive facades. [less ▲]

Les spéléothèmes sont maintenant considérées comme précieuses archives climatiques et environnementales sur les continents, offrant un certain nombre d'avantages par rapport à d'autres archives continentales (les sédiments lacustres, les carottes de glace….). Cette archive peut être aisément datables (U/Th, comptage de lamines et 14C), et présentent une haute résolution temporelle (décennale à saisonnière). Cependant, leur potentiel pour l'enregistrement de la pollution de l'environnement est largement inexploré et principalement axé sur la quantification des contributions d'aérosols dans des grottes touristiques. Cette étude est un des premières études qui utilise les spéléothèmes pour retracer la pollution atmosphérique. Basé sur deux spéléothèmes collectées dans la grotte de Han-sur-Lesse (S-Belgique), ce travail a deux objectifs : 1) le premier est de quantifier la concentration du Pb pour la dernière 250 ans, 2) le second objectif est de définir les sources anthropiques prédominantes de Pb en utilisant les rapports isotopiques du Pb et en basant sur les comparaisons avec les données historiques des activités anthropogéniques en Europe et la Belgique. Les concentrations en éléments traces (Al et Pb) (mesurées par LA-ICP-MS et ICP-MS) et les rapports isotopiques du Pb (mesurées par MC-ICP-MS) permettent d'identifier trois intervalles caractérisés par un enrichissement particulier en Pb : de 1880 à 1905 AD, de 1945 à 1965 AD, et de 1975 à 1990 AD. Les spéléothèmes montrent des changements similaires au niveau historique de la pollution atmosphérique connu en Belgique. Les rapports isotopiques du Pb distinguent clairement les sources de Pb et confirment que le charbon et la combustion de l'essence combinée avec des activités métallurgiques régionales étaient les sources prédominantes de la pollution au cours des 250 dernières années. Cette étude met l'accent sur la capacité des spéléothèmes d’enregistrer la pollution atmosphérique. [less ▲]

Adult neural crest stem cells (NCSC) are of extraordinary high plasticity and promising candidates for a use in regenerative medicine. Several locations like skin, adipose tissue, dental pulp or bone marrow have been described in rodent. However, very few information is available concerning their correspondence in human tissues. The main objective of this study was therefore to characterize NCSC from adult human bone marrow. In this purpose, we compared human bone marrow stromal cells to human adipose tissue and dermis, already described for containing NCSC. We performed comparative analyses in terms of gene and protein expression, as well as functional characterizations. It appeared that human bone marrow, similarly to adipose tissue and dermis contains NESTIN+ / SOX9+ / TWIST+ / SLUG+ / P75NTR+ / BRN3A+/ MSI1+/ SNAIL1+ cells and were able to differentiate into melanocytes and Schwann cells. Moreover, when injected into chicken embryos, all those cells were able to migrate and follow endogenous neural crest migration pathways. Altogether, the phenotypic characterization and migration abilities strongly suggest the presence of neural crest-derived cells in human adult bone marrow. [less ▲]

Dans son historiographie critique (Les noms de l’histoire, 1992 / Figures de l’histoire, 2012), J. Rancière définit pour l’époque contemporaine des formes alternatives de poétique, de mise en récit et de mise en visibilité de l’histoire, qui auraient pour effet de mieux prendre en compte les anonymes et de découper autrement le sensible. Dans de nombreux textes (cf. par ex. Le destin des images, sur la « phrase-image »), Rancière étudie les formes d’accompagnement entre images et mots, et pense la figurabilité comme articulation de deux pouvoirs expressifs en un agencement spécifique. Pour échapper au débat stérile sur la préséance de l’image sur le langage (ou vice-versa), on envisagera avec Rancière l’idée selon laquelle l’image serait une « manière dont les choses parlent et se taisent ». L’image ne dit pas mieux les intensités que les mots, mais elle aménage un lieu inédit pour la mise en fiction des paroles de l’histoire. En ce sens spécifique, la figurabilité, comme mise en scène des mots et des images, doit pouvoir compter sur le travail de l’indétermination – comme on le montrera avec quelques exemples cinématographiques. Untersuchungen dazu werden in diesem Bericht am Beispiel von WEEE und speziell an Leiter-platten aufgezeigt. Die Versuche zeigen, dass EDF für verschiedenste Arten von Elektroschrott eingesetzt werden kann. Verschweisste Kompaktgeräte können zum Beispiel so weit geöffnet werden, dass die ge-wünschte Komponente freigelegt und entfernt werden kann. Leiterplatten haben die Eigenschaft, dass bei kontinuierlich steigendem Energieeintrag zuerst die aufgebrachten Komponenten abgetrennt werden, bevor die Cu-Bahnen freigelegt werden. Bei noch höherem Energieeintrag wird die Leiterplatte schlussendlich zerkleinert und vollständig zer-stört. Durch diese Entfrachtung der Leiterplatte kann ein metallreiches Konzentrat hergestellt werden. [less ▲]

In this paper, I propose to explore the link between experience and reason in the problem of the apprehension of life. My general claim is that philosophical issues are necessarily involved in a theory of living organisms, since identifying a certain entity as a living being is to go beyond its manifestations. In part I, I argue that the empirical approach of the natural sciences cannot fully account for the peculiarity of life. In particular, I argue that the different criteria used to distinguish the living from the non-living, as those proposed in biology, are inadequate, both de facto and de jure. Indeed, they are constantly challenged by inventions of machines displaying features commonly regarded as specific to livings, and also by discoveries of new organisms whose unexpected features overcome the boundaries of our categories. More fundamentally, I hold that these criteria fail to provide sufficient conditions for qualifying beings as living, as long as the external appearances of life can, in principle, be reproduced by lifeless automatons. Therefore the phenomenological aspect of life, which cannot be accessed in a third person point of view (as the perception itself), turns out to be crucial. In the second part, I elaborate on these issues by focusing on the leibnizian theory of living beings. According to Leibniz, the distinctive feature of life is to have of a real unity, which must be conceived as the one to be found in a perceiving soul. After a brief survey on the foundations of this theory, I will emphasize how Leibniz’s attempt to account for the true unity of living beings – as opposed to the accidental unity of non-living things – exemplifies the problematic relationship between the observable properties of organized matter and the inner (or metaphysical) properties of the living as such. In Leibniz’s case indeed, the lack of empirical evidence forces him to resort to philosophical postulates, namely the principle of analogy and the principle of continuity. This latter principle allows him to qualify plants as living beings and to predict the existence of “borderline” organisms as the polyp. Finally, I will propose to consider the discovery of the polyp in the eighteenth century as a case of particular interest and a challenge to the classical conceptions of the living. Among its numerous outstanding properties, the polyp has the faculty to regenerate when cut into pieces, each of them becoming a whole new organism, and to breed by budding. Moreover, a polyp is constituted as a colony of self-contained, smaller polyps. Because of that, it is difficult to determine what the living organism exactly is: is it the colony as a whole or each of its members? And if the whole constitutes a real organism, how shall we explain its oneness? These issues raise the crucial questions of unity and individuality, which are of tremendous importance with regard to the ontological status of life. [less ▲]

当今的害虫防治理念已从传统的“杀灭”转向科学的“调控”,生态调控成为可持续农业领域中的研究热点之一。间作提高农作物的多样性是作物虫害生态调控途径之一,间作作物导致农田生物多样性增加、为天敌昆虫提供食物和避难所,从而使天敌种类和数量增加,为目标害虫控治作用增强。已有结果表明小麦与豌豆间作、混作,不仅有效降低小麦上麦长管蚜的种群数量,增加了天敌控制害虫的稳定性和持续性, 而且可以增产保收、养地改土。一些昆虫取食诱导的挥发物和昆虫自身分泌物(如水杨酸甲酯MeSA、蚜虫报警信息素EBF)具有驱避蚜虫对植食性昆虫进行行为调控的直接防御,还可以通过吸引第三级营养级的天敌昆虫,提升间接防御害虫作用。 为了探索作物间作与行为调控挥发物的协同的控害效果,本研究采用小麦间作豌豆、协同化学信息素(MeSA、EBF)的释放,于比利时Gembloux地区连续两年(2015年3月-8月年和2016年3月-8月)进行田间实验。结果表明与单纯小麦-豌豆间作相比,小麦-豌豆间作配合EBF、MeSA的释放,提高了蚜茧蜂对豌豆蚜的寄生率,对蚜虫天敌草蛉、食蚜蝇、瓢虫也具有强烈的吸引作用,豌豆蚜及麦蚜的无翅蚜田间发生量分别降低达35%和30%。 间作的豌豆可以为天敌提供栖居和食物,有利于蚜虫天敌的繁殖,而豌豆蚜的发生峰期早于麦蚜发生峰期一周左右,因此间作结合挥发物的释放,更有利于豌豆田中的蚜虫主要天敌最大程度的转移到麦田中防控麦蚜,有效降低麦蚜发生峰期的种群数量,两种方法组合构成“吸引-补偿”(Attract–Reward)的机制,将挥发物行为调控与栖境管理两种防控害虫的方法有效的结合起来,进一步增强生防效果,有助于建立综合的小麦害虫绿色防控体系。 [less ▲]

The behavior of malachite and heterogenite was investigated during the process water recycling in flotation of copper-cobalt oxide ores from the deposit of Luiswishi located in Haut-Katanga province (DRC). A synthetic mill wastewater (SMWW) was utilized as feed water alone and in mixture with water recovered from the flotation tails in view to achieve at the laboratory scale the locked-cycle recycling of the industrial mill wastewater (IMWW). To simulate the chemical species presence in the pulp and their effects on the flotation of malachite and heterogenite, calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate ions were added to the feed water and the recoveries of copper and cobalt followed during the roughing flotation stage. The concentrate XRD and SEM analysis together with the floated minerals microanalyses by EDX spectroscopy, leaching tests of mono-minerals followed by the Pourbaix diagrams construction and DRIFT spectroscopy analyses, have enabled identifying changes in the surface properties of malachite and heterogenite interfering on the recovery of copper (40 %) and cobalt (58 %) with a significant drop in their concentrate grades (7.3 % Cu and 2.7 % Co). The deterioration of the concentrate characteristics results also from the gangue minerals entrainment. A better description of the valuable minerals behaviour in the SMWW presence could enable designing strategies in view enhancing their floatability during the locked-cycle recycling of water. Exosomes are communication mediators participating in the intercellular exchange of proteins, metabolites and nucleic acids. Recent studies have demonstrated that exosomes are characterized by a unique proteomic composition that is distinct from the cellular one. The mechanisms responsible for determining the proteome content of the exosomes remain however obscure. In the current study we employ ultrastructural approach to validate a novel exosomal protein myoferlin. This is a multiple C2-domain containing protein, known for its conserved physiological function in endocytosis and vesicle fusion biology. Emerging studies demonstrate that myoferlin is frequently overexpressed in cancer, where it promotes cancer cell migration and invasion. Our data expand these ndings by showing that myoferlin is a general component of cancer cell derived exosomes from different breast and pancreatic cancer cell lines. Using proteomic analysis, we demonstrate for the rst time that myoferlin depletion in cancer cells leads to a signi cantly modulated exosomal protein load. Such myoferlin-depleted exosomes were also functionally de cient as shown by their reduced capacity to transfer nucleic acids to human endothelial cells (HUVEC). Beyond this, myoferlin-depleted cancer exosomes also had a signi cantly reduced ability to induce migration and proliferation of HUVEC. The present study highlights myoferlin as a new functional player in exosome biology, calling for novel strategies to target this emerging oncogene in human cancer. [less ▲]
