Traduction de trois articles publiés par Franz Brentano à l'occasion de son départ d'Autriche en 1895. Dans le premier, Brentano expose les circonstances dans lesquelles il a été nommé à l'Université de Vienne en 1874 et a ensuite été contraint de renoncer à son titre de Professeur. Dans le deuxième, il dénonce un sophisme dans l'interprétation du droit civil autrichien par Rittner. Dans le troisième, enfin, il réclame la fondation d'un laboratoire de psychologie à la Faculté de philosophie de l'Université de Vienne et explique les raisons pour lesquelles un tel laboratoire est une condition indispensable pour l'édification d'une philosophie scientifique. Fundamentals of vernacular architecture have been used in bioclimatic architecture which has gradually become the inspiration of various movements in contemporary architecture. The study points out that the development of bioclimatism in architecture has followed the pattern of a natural evolutionary process in which “natural selection” is likely motivated by several factors, including resources and environment problems, and driven by different mechanisms including novel building design concepts and methods, new standards and codes, discoveries in building science and construction costs. This study is an effort aimed to clarify the evolution process of the bioclimatic approach in architecture over time and its influences on contemporary movements in architecture. The paper shows also that the evolutionary theory generated new scientific tools able to improve building design thanks to simulation-based optimization methods applied to building performances. Finally, this study investigates new motivations in the era of climate change whose effects are expected to introduce more challenges as well as more trends towards a sustainable built environment through the new concept of Eco-adaptive architecture. In the framework of instrument calibration, straylight issues are a critical aspect that can deteriorate the optical performances of instrument. To cope with this, a new facility is designed dedicated for in-field and far field straylight characterization: up to 10-8 for in-field and up to 10-10 for far field straylight in the visible to NIR spectral ranges. Moreover, from previous straylight test performed at CSL, vacuum conditions are needed for reaching the 10-10 rejection requirement mainly to avoid air/dust diffusion. The major constrains are to design a straylight facility either for in-field and out-field straylight measurements. That requires high dynamic range at source level and a high radiance point source allowing small diverging collimated beam. Moreover, the straylight facility has to be implemented into a limited envelope and has to be built with vacuum compatible materials and black coating. As checking the facility performance requires an instrument better than the facility itself, that is no easy to find, so that the performances have been estimated through a modelisation into a non sequential optical software. This modelisation is based on CAD importation of mechanical design, on BRDF characteristics of black coating and on statistical averaging of ray tracing at instrument entrance. [less ▲]

The current drive for increased efficiency in aeronautic structures such as aircraft, wind turbine blades and helicopter blades often leads to weight reduction. A con- sequence of this tendency can be increased flexibility, which in turn can lead to un- favourable aeroelastic phenomena involving large amplitude oscillations and non- linear effects such as geometric hardening and stall flutter. Vibration mitigation is one of the approaches currently under study for avoiding these phenomena. In the present work, passive vibration mitigation is applied to a nonlinear experimental aeroelastic system by means of a linear tuned vibration absorber. The aeroelastic apparatus is a pitch and flap wing that features a continuously hardening restoring torque in pitch and a linear restoring torque in flap. Extensive analysis of the sys- tem with and without absorber at pre-critical and post-critical airspeeds showed an improvement in flutter speed of around 36%, a suppression of a jump due to stall flutter, and a reduction in LCO amplitude. Mathematical modelling of the exper- imental system is used to demonstrate that optimal flutter delay is achieved when two of the system modes flutter at the same flight condition. Nevertheless, even this optimal absorber quickly loses effectiveness as it is detuned. The wind tunnel mea- surements showed that the tested absorbers were much slower to lose effectiveness than those of the mathematical predictions. [less ▲]

L’accompagnement collectif constitue un mode de développement des individus et des équipes qui bénéficie aujourd’hui d’une abondante littérature méthodologique et théorique. Bien que cette question soit moins documentée actuellement, l’accompagnement collectif met en jeu également des démarches d’évaluation qui viennent en appui du processus. Basé sur quatre études de cas, cet article propose une modélisation des différentes possibilités d’évaluations, triées en fonction de quatre critères (niveaux, temporalités, contenus, formes). Chaque modalité est illustrée à l’aide d’un cas fil rouge. Cela débouche sur une multiplicité de possibilités d’application de l’évaluation au service de l’accompagnement. Nous terminons par discuter comment cette pratique peut être théorisée en termes de posture épistémologique. [less ▲]

Il fut aussi le lieu d’une importante réflexion conciliaire et théologique, stimulée par la propagation de la doctrine adoptianiste des Espagnols et par la diffusion des actes du concile de Nicée II en Francia. L’important corpus documentaire qui a été conservé offre une possibilité exceptionnelle pour l’époque de connaître le concile de l’intérieur, de percevoir les sentiments et les attentes des participants, de comprendre les enjeux ecclésiologiques et théologiques des questions mises à l’ordre du jour. Cet article propose une esquisse d’évaluation de l’intensité dramatique de ce synode et de l’effective portée des débats qui s’y sont joués. [less ▲]

Aphids have an obligate association with the primary symbiont Buchnera aphidicola and is known to affect aphid fitness. Aphids commonly harbour other facultative bacterial endosymbionts and may benefit from their presence through increased resistance to parasitoids [1]. Present results suggest that the ability of hosts to defend against natural enemies depend not only on the presence of symbionts but also on the host genotype. Aphids represent a complex micro-environment for the parasitoid larvae and both the aphid physiology and endosymbiont influence their survival until mummification. [less ▲]
