Aims. — To estimate the risk of injury in rugby sevens.News. — The rugby sevens is an increasingly popular sport since the creation of the IRB SevensWorld Series in 2000 and its introduction as an Olympic sport in 2016. Despite its strong simi-larities to rugby union, it remains a different sport with higher game intensity, causing a moresignificant number of injuries. The average incidence of injury in rugby sevens is 249.27 for1000 hours of play against 102.25 for 1000 hours of rugby union matches.Conclusion. — This epidemiological review of injuries among the rugby sevens refers to theirlocation and their nature, the causes, the position of players, the type of field, as well as thedowntime of practice following trauma. The Romont quarry is recently considered as a new type section for the Middle Belgium loess deposits. The site displays a nearly 10 m thick loess sequence mainly dating from the Upper Pleistocene. The Rocourt Pedocomplex, the Humiferous Complex of Remicourt, the Malplaquet Soil and the Nagelbeek Tongued Horizon are especially well developed. Classical approaches to study the loess sequence need observable sections. Unfortunately these sections are rare in Middle Belgium, often temporary and not deep enough. To identify reference horizons, archaeologists and geologists use to resort to hand auger sampling techniques. Investigation of loess by cone penetration tests could offer an alternative to the lack of outcrops and could be used complementary to hand drilling techniques. This study focuses on a methodology to approach as a first step the loess sequence to identify the presence or not of some layers and their extension. The investigation campaign performed on the site of Romont aims to define reference horizons based on mechanical properties by comparison with an observable outcrop. Then 16 cone penetration tests have been realized behind the working face. The campaign results reveal the existence of some horizons into the loess sequence. The transition between the Humiferous Complex of Remicourt and the Rocourt Pedocomplex is the most noticeable horizon. These two pedostratigraphic units are important due to the presence of archaeological materials in Middle Belgium and borderlands. Closer to the surface the Nagelbeek Tongued Horizon and the decarbonation limit are also highlighted from results of the geotechnical campaign. [less ▲]

Virus-like particles of human papillomavirus (HPV-VLP), resulting from the self-assembly of the capsid proteins (L1 or L1 and L2), have been widely used to study HPV as they are similar to the native virion. Moreover, two prophylactic vaccines, Gardasil® and Cervarix®, are based on HPV-VLP L1. Analytical techniques currently used to characterize HPV-VLP, such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, are time-consuming and semi-quantitative. In this study, capillary electrophoresis (CE) was evaluated for the analysis of intact HPV16-VLP. The usefulness of capillary inner wall coating as well as various BGEs, pH and detergent additives were investigated. Reproducible HPV-VLP analysis in CE was achieved using poly(ethylene oxide) coated capillary and a BGE containing high salt concentration and low SDS concentration. The developed method enables HPV-VLP detection in less than 10 min (migration times RSD : 1.6 %). The identity of HPV-VLP peak was confirmed by comparison with a sample obtained from a wild-type baculovirus and with VLP-based vaccine, Gardasil®, after adjuvant dissolution. Finally, we applied the developed methodology to VLP-based vaccines, demonstrating that CE could be successfully used for vaccine quality control. [less ▲]

The prognosis for patients multiple myeloma (MM) has improved substantially over the past decade with the development of new, more effective chemotherapeutic agents and regimens that possess a high level of anti-tumor activity. In spite of this important progress, however, nearly all MM patients ultimately relapse, even those who experience a complete response to initial therapy. Management of relapsed MM thus represents a vital aspect of the overall care for patients with MM and a critical area of ongoing scientific and clinical research. This comprehensive manuscript from the International Myeloma Working Group provides detailed recommendations on management of relapsed disease, with sections dedicated to diagnostic evaluation, determinants of therapy, and general approach to patients with specific disease characteristics. In addition, the manuscript provides a summary of evidence from clinical trials that have significantly impacted the field, including those evaluating conventional dose therapies, as well as both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Specific recommendations are offered for management of first and second relapse, relapsed and refractory disease, and both autologous and allogeneic transplant. Finally, perspective is provided regarding new agents and promising directions in management of relapsed MM. [less ▲]

A pseudo-Boolean function is a real-valued function $f(x)=f(x_1,x_2,\ldots,x_n)$ of $n$ binary variables; that is, a mapping from $\{0,1\}^n$ to ${\bbr}$. For a pseudo-Boolean function $f(x)$ on $\{0,1\}^n$, we say that $g(x,y)$ is a quadratization of $f$ if $g(x,y)$ is a Quadratic polynomial depending on $x$ and on $m$ auxiliary binary variables $y_1,y_2,\ldots,y_m$ such that $f(x)= \min \{ g(x,y) : y \in \{0,1\}^m \} $ for all $x \in \{0,1\}^n$. By means of quadratizations, minimization of $f$ is reduced to minimization (over its extended set of variables) of the quadratic function $g(x,y)$. This is of some practical interest because minimization of quadratic functions has been thoroughly studied for the last few decades, and much progress has been made in solving such problems exactly or heuristically. A related paper initiated a systematic study of the minimum number of auxiliary $y$-variables required in a quadratization of an arbitrary function $f$ (a natural question, since the complexity of minimizing the quadratic function $g(x,y)$ depends, among other factors, on the number of binary variables). In this paper, we determine more precisely the number of auxiliary variables required by quadratizations of \emph{symmetric} pseudo-Boolean functions $f(x)$, those functions whose value depends only on the Hamming weight of the input $x$ (the number of variables equal to 1). Skin infiltration in multiple myeloma (skin MM) is a rare clinical problem. Only a few cases of skin involvement have been reported, primarily in single case reports. We analyzed and present the clinical outcomes, immunohistochemistry and cytogenetic features, and relevant laboratory data on 53 biopsy-proven skin MM cases. The median time from MM diagnosis to skin involvement was 2 years. There appears to be an overrepresentation of immunoglobulin class A (IgA) and light chain disease in skin MM. We found no correlation between CD56 negative MM and skin infiltration. We found that skin MM patients presented in all MM stages (i.e. ISS stages I to III), and there was no preferential cytogenetic abnormality. Patients with skin MM carry a very poor prognosis with a median overall survival (OS) of 8.5 months as time from skin involvement. Moreover, patients with IgA disease and plasmablastic morphology appear to have a worse OS. [less ▲]

The inactement of institutional bilingualism by the Constitution exposes Cameroon to translation every day, as all official texts/speeches produced in one of the two official languages (French and English) must be translated into the other. This translation demand requires translators and training of translators/interpreters becomes compulsory. First Cameroonian translators were initially trained in universities and colleges abroad and later on, after independence, at home when the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI) was created in the mid 1980s. The main objective of the school was to train translators/interpreters for public service. This goal will lapse when the Government decided not to enroll systematically ASTI graduates in 1999. Meanwhile, other private institutes as ISTI of Yaoundé, or programs like those of the University of Yaounde I opened their doors with curricula almost modeled on that of ASTI. Moreover, there is no regulation body for the profession, the only professional associtation that has been existing since the 90s is yet to find its way. This communication aims at looking into the development of translation in Cameroon from independence. Some suggestions are also made towards the future of the profession in one of the few countries where bilingualism is institutional and whereby about 300 local languages interact in a daily basis. This cahier aims to identify and analyze the consequences of international migration movements on the school itineraries and aspirations of children who have been exposed to international migration between Mexico and the U. S. Some of these children are active actors of migratory flows because they moved from one country to another. Others are not active migrants; however, given the fact that they belong to divided families due to international migration, they are exposed to the impacts of their family members’ decisions. Consequently, two critical components of their migratory experiences will be the focus of our analysis. Firstly, we will analyze their school trajectory and secondly the family dispersion due to their migratory decisions. [less ▲]

This paper gives the results of the first census of trees in the 32.15 ha plot in order to provide tree species richness in Kibira rainforest (Burundi). All trees ≥ 10 cm dbh were permanently tagged and their girth measured. The forest structure pattern analysed were diameter at breast height (dbh), basal area, relative dominance, and relative density, Importance Value Index (IVI) and Family Importance Value (FIV). In total, 6504 trees representing 70 species, 67 genera and 37 families were recorded. Tree density was 202 stems/ha, with a basal area of 21.05m²/ha. Seventeen families were represented by a single species each, eleven families were represented by two species each, five families were represented by three species each, and four families were represented by four species each. The most important families in relation to FIV were Euphorbiaceae, Myrtaceae and Araliaceae. Macaranga kilimandscharica, Syzygium guineense and Polyscias fulva were the most important species in relation to IVI. Two tree species were found to be endemic to the Albertine Rift and one species probably endemic to the Albertine Rift. The Shannon-Weiner index (H') and eveness index (J') were respectively 3.18 and 0.75. This study provides a baseline for the management of Kibira National Park. As local communities still depend on forest resources, conservation awareness-raising and education actions have to focus in nearby villages, and growing some fast-growing native trees in the vicinity of the settlement, would be helpful for local communities, this would reduce their dependence on forest resources.
