For a researcher the increased impact of their work is a benefit of great significance amongst the numerous advantages offered by Open Access. Proof of this is that the citation rates of publications deposited in institutional repositories or other open archives is rising sharply.
Two new studies referenced on the OpCit Project site testify to this:
Because institutions are becoming more and more aware of these benefits, in the aftermath of Open Access Week and the EPrints Challenge, 14 new institutions have established a mandatory policy in terms of self-archiving. Amongst them are INRA (France), the University of Nottingham (UK), EUR-OCEANS Consortium,...
In addition EPrints has on this occasion placed online a Map of new institutional repositories, providing a link and a description of these IRs.
