Abstract :	[en] This lecture is an attempt to draw the relationship between characters of the engineers, the model range choices, and the rationalization process launched by Ugo Gobbato at Alfa Romeo in the thirties. It analizes how the automobile design, albeit a secondary activity at Alfa Romeo then, can be seen as an exemple of the limit of the rational management.
	[it] La conferenza cerca di analizzare i rapporti tra i progettisti auto, le orientazioni strategiche del collocamento di mercato delle auto prodotte e il processo modernizzatore avviato da Ugo Gobbato all'Alfa Romeo negli anni 30. Sebben il ramo automobile fosse secondario all'Alfa negli anni 30, rappresenta un esempio dei limiti della strategia razionalzzatrice in atto.
