Abstract :
[fr] Ignace de Loyola, aidé par Juan Polanco, a assis solidement la Compagnie de Jésus sur un système de communication intensif. Ce système, toutefois, s’est avéré rapidement inadapté aux besoins d’un ordre en constante expansion mais les enjeux de la correspondance étaient tels que les successeurs du fondateur de la Compagnie ne cessèrent d’en redéfinir le fonctionnement. Cet article souligne les raisons et les modalités de ces permanents réajustements. Il montre quelles ont été les conséquences de ces redéfinitions sur le plan de la matérialité de la production documentaire mais également des formes de communication interne à l’ordre. Il tente enfin, et surtout, de saisir en quoi ce souci de l’écriture administrative a été étroitement lié à des processus de constructions identitaires, de renforcement de l’unité et d’entretien de la mémoire au sein de la Compagnie de Jésus.
[en] Ignatius of Loyola, helped by Juan Polanco, has firmly established the Society of Jesus upon an intensive communication system. This system quickly turned out to be inadequate for the needs of an Order in constantly growing, but the inner correspondence was so important that the successors of the Society founder never ceased to redefine its working. This article underlines the reasons and the terms of these continuous readjustments. It shows the consequences of these redefinitions for materiality of documentary production and for the forms of the Order inner communication. It also attempts to understand to what extent this care for administrative writing was closely tied to processes of identitary constructions, of unity strengthening and of memory sustainment within the Society of Jesus.
[nl] Ignatius van Loyola, geholpen door Juan Polanco, heeft het Gezelschap van Jezus op een intensief communicatiesysteem stevig opgericht. Nochtans, wordt dit systeem vlug onaangepast aan de behoeften van een orde in ononderbroken groei maar de doeleinden van de briefwisseling waren zo belangrijk dat de opvolgers van de stichter van het Gezelschap niet met de bepaling van zijn functioneren ophouden. Dit artikel onderstreept de reden en de wijzen van die aanpassingen. Het toont welke de gevolgen van die bepalingen zijn geweest op het gebied van de stoffelijkheid van de documentaireproductie maar ook van de interne communicatievormen van de orde. Het probeert ook, en vooral, te begrijpen hoe deze interesse voor de administratieve schrijft met de processen van de identiteitsconstructie, van de eenheidsversterking en van het onderhoud van de gedachtenis in het Gezelschap van Jezus verbond is.
