For years now, hypertensive patients have been treated following the general rules known as the stepped care program. This approach is presently criticized. The recent interest for new drug treatment, the introduction of new first fine drugs, the use of lower dose of antihypertensive agents and the search for prediction of the response have to be introduced in our actual management of the hypertensive patient.
