Schiff obtained a value of 4.41 for the specific gravity of cuprous iodide, while a redetermination by the author gives 5.631. The importance of this lies in the fact that cuprous iodide is now seen to be formed from the elements with contraction, whereas Schiff's figure called for twenty-four percent expansion.
