[en] Based on interviews conducted with students carrying out or having stayed abroad, the paper analyses the importance of these experiences in the young people's self-construction. Having proposed a typology, it develops some aspects of cultural exchanges at the heart of these experiences. The student mobility is seen as a particularly interesting way to answer young people's double demands : self-construction through experiences abroad while remaining integrated in a student course and developing skills that will facilitate integration into the professional world.
