Abstract :	[en] This paper presents new estimates of technical efficiency and multi-factor productivity growth for the OECD financial services (banking and insurance) sector, over the period 1971-86. In addition, it provides tests of two conjectures: can we talk of convergence in productivity growth across OECD members, particularly EC countries, and to what extent can prevailing competition explain variation in efficiency and productivity growth?
