Abstract :	[en] The diagnosis of osteoporosis and the monitoring of antiosteoporosis therapies imply a better and more rational use of bone densitometry. The optimal prescription modalities of this fundamental examination are favorably correlated with the efficacy of modern therapeutics. The rationale of this article is to provide the general practitioner with a factual update on the diagnostic and prognostic use of bone densitometry.
