[en] This chapter presents the role of composite biomaterials in various soft tissue applications ranging from tissue engineering to wearable and implantable electronics. It is highlighted the relation between a biological tissue and the man-made counterpart, that was developed to regenerate or integrate tissue functionalities. Soft tissues were described as structural, hydrogel or multifunctional composites and as producers of biosignals: it is then established a link between material chemical and structural features and the engineered solutions mimicking the biological tissue properties or inspired by them. This overview, therefore, allows the reader to understand the engineering process applied to the solution of a clinical problem.
