[en] The CASES program has provided a remarkable opportunity to examine the community structure and seasonal dynamics of microbial communities within coastal Arctic Ocean waters. Through the microbial component of this program, we were able to study the diversity and activities of many forms of microscopic life, including viruses, Archea and Bacteria (known collectively as prokaryotes), and Eukarya (single-celled members, also known as protists).
