Abstract :
[en] Different peritexts that accompany the three novels that Alejandro Páez Varela has published about Ciudad Juárez draw attention to the theme of the femicide. In this way, they invite the reader to compare them with other novels about massacres of women. On the basis of the analysis made by Kunz (2012) and Close (2008 and 2012) respectively of the novels about the femicide and of the portraits of women in the hard boiled novel, we can conclude that Páez Varela does not employ the most common stereotypes at use. Furthermore, he never proposes to the reader convincing theses that give only one explanation for the numerous deaths that occur in his novels, suggesting instead that the violence has many distinct origins. Nevertheless, in one way or another, his novels associate the violence with the general impoverishment and with the immigration that dehumanizes persons in such a manner that they lose their moral code and their former dignity.
