[en] Following the publication of international reports and recommendations 1, 2, 84, to improve the quality of care in prison has become a concern in several countries. The WHO Moscow Declaration states that “penitentiary health must be an integral part of the public health system of any country” 1. A selection of neighbouring countries was studied. These included those in which a similar transfer was performed (e.g Scotland, France and some Swiss cantons), but also the Netherlands, as an example of a country in which such transfer was not done.
