Abstract :
[fr] Résumé : L’anamnèse est une étape essentielle dans l’approche diagnostique. Elle repose sur un interrogatoire structuré dans lequel la chronologie des événements joue souvent un rôle essentiel. L’expérience montre que l’étudiant en médecine exploite, souvent de façon imparfaite, la notion de temps dans son approche du patient. Le but de cette vignette est d’attirer l’attention sur quelques éléments clés, dont l’âge du malade, la durée des symptômes, le moment d’apparition des plaintes dans le décours du nycthémère et, enfin, l’importance à accorder à deux (ou plusieurs) événements survenant de façon concomitante ou successive.
[en] Summary : Medical history taking represents a key step in the diagnostic approach. A structured interview with a special attention to the chronology of events is mandatory. The medical student often fails to use the information on time in an optimal way. The aim of this article is to draw the attention on a few key elements, especially the age of the patient, the duration of symptoms, the time of occurrence of complaints within the 24h period and, finally, how to interpret the simultaneous or sequential occurrence of two (or more) events.
