Abstract :
[en] The new European Objectives along with environmental concerns are leading the energy sector in a new phase where conventional generation plants are progressively replaced by renewable energy sources. This new paradigm raises concerns regarding the optimal generation mix and the management of the power transmission constraints. This study focuses on the case of Italy tosimulate the dispatch in its power system with DispaSET, a unit commitment and optimal dispatch model developed within the Joint Research Centre. It aims at evaluating the value of storage and of interconnections in different renewables penetration scenarios.
