Abstract :
[en] The Cardboardfactory Winderickx or Papermill of Herissem. On the border between Alsemberg and Dworp, situated south of Brussels, along the Molenbeek, a wonderful former rural industrial site is located, called the Papermill of Herissem, founded in 1763. This paper factory is owned by the family Winderickx uo till today. The whole chain of old machines, needed for the paper production is still present and well conserved. Today the cardboard factory is restored and a museum is installed showing the fabrication process of paper, illustrating how an industry functioned in a rural area by combining rural and industrial activities.
