[en] Based on Mary Shelley's famous novel Frankenstein (1818), and particularly its many film adaptations, this article questions the concept of animation and reanimation at the heart of these fantastical fictional narratives. Identifying some essential paradigms (the spectacularisation of death, the fantasy of the gift of life, the theme of corruption, and circular temporality), the text also questions certain basic principles inherent to the animation film. [fr] À partir du célèbre roman de Mary Shelley Frankenstein (1818) et, surtout, de ses nombreuses adaptations cinématographiques, cet article interroge les notions d’animation et de réanimation au coeur de ces récits fantastiques. Identifiant quelques paradigmes essentiels (spectacularisation de la mort, fantasme de don de vie, motif de corruption, schéma temporel circulaire), le texte interroge également certains principes fondamentaux du cinéma d’animation.
