Abstract :
[en] In his inquiry concerning ascetics, Foucault attempts to make technology established in a major idea, by extending it to the thought and to the "ethopoetic" field of the self. If Foucault ascribes to Kant the responsability of transcendantal locking against ascetics, he finds as well in Kant something that enables him to break down the barrier, with the concept of use taken as a vital lead for the technology of the self. First, in the "Introduction to the Anthropology", where use, which is diffracted in language and exchanges, refers to the concrete conditions for the constitution of the subject ; yhen in "What is Enlightenment ?", where "critical use of reason" refers to a political mode of transformation for the subject. Stuck in this problematical tension between conditions and transformation, the vital lead of use allows Foucault to rethink the joint between theory and practic, far from pure cricticism as from any spontaneous anthropology.
[fr] Dans son enquête sur l'ascétique, Foucault cherche à redonner droit de cité à une idée forte de la technique,élargie à la pensée et au champ "ethopoiétique" du soi. Si Foucault impute à Kant la responsabilité d'un verrouillage transcendantal contre l'ascétique, il trouve également chez Kant de quoi déjouer ce verrouillage, avec le concept d'usage qu'il prend comme fil conducteur des techniques de soi. Dans ''Introduction à l'Anthropologie" d'une part, où l'usage, diffracté dans le langage et les échanges, désigne les conditions concrètes de la constitution du sujet ; dans "Qu'est-ce que les Lumières ?'' d'autre part, où "l'usage critique de la raison" désigne un mode politique de transformation du sujet. Pris dans cette tension problématique entre conditions et transformation, le fil conducteur de l'usage est une manière pour Foucault de repenser l'articulation de la théorie et de la pratique, à l'écart de tout criticisme comme de toute anthropologie spontanée.
