Abstract :
[en] This chapter examines the place occupied by the translator during the period in which Buenos Aires was the publishing Mecca of Latin America. Starting in the 1930s and during the forties and fifties, translating activity was particularly intense in Argentina and incorporated a profusion of what was being written in other literatures. Two realities converged in this boom: a favourable context of the book market and a tradition of handling «the new» set forth by the porteño avant-gardes of the 1920s.
