Abstract :
[en] 1817 is the year when the palimpsest of the Institutes of Gaius was discovered. It was also the year of the founding of the universities of Liège, Ghent and Louvain. But the teaching of Roman Law has not equally profited of this discovery in all universities. The great Professor Leopold August Warnkönig has played a very important role in this respect: He was professor of roman law successively in Liège, Louvain and Ghent.
