[en] The current study focusses on five education systems (Belgium French-speaking, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Sweden) where significant improvement of the reading performance in PISA or a significant decline in equity was observed between 2000 and 2009. Firstly, the changes in education policy are documented for each of the systems; the paper then tries to link the kind of changes in education policy with the trends observed through PISA.
