Abstract :	[en] Conventional sampling systems cannot localize information by smallforest units such as a compartment or a stand unless we increase the sampling intensity and the cost too. When management becomes more intensive the "unit area inventory" based upon sampling inside compartments is considered for giving in-place information about individual stand units (inventory) and their specific treatment. The authors present some procedures they have used in intensively managed forests. Individual stands are identified and mapped, then estimates are made of volume, species, structure by means of temporary plots or angle count samples systematically located or left to judgment. Computer programs have been written in order to assist the manager in applying such a type of inventory.
	[fr] En vue d'estimer les caractéristiques quantitatives des parcelles de gestion sur lesquelles reposent encore de nombreux types d'aménagement, les méthodes habituelles d'inventaire des peuplements ne sont pas toujours bien adaptées aux circonstances : l'inventaire complet est long et souvent onéreux et l'inventaire par échantillonnage est normalement conçu à une autre échelle intéressant des ensembles beaucoup plus étendus. L'utilisation d'inventaires par échantillonnage pratiqués au sein des parcelles constitue un compromis satisfaisant dans le contexte d'aménagements forestiers intensifs. Les auteurs exposent ci-après les principes et applications possibles de semblable méthode.
