Abstract :
[en] We have recently introduced the muscle microbiopsy technique to study oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) capacity in horses by high-resolution respirometry (HRR). Mitochondrial respiration is measured in the course of specially designed multiple substrate-uncoupler-inhibitor titration (SUIT) protocols. This new technique is proposed for routine monitoring of horses in training as an aid to improve training program and hopefully to reduce exercise-induced muscle injury.
