Radiotherapy is a powerful continuously evolving effective treatment tool. Our aim is to offer the best treatments and assure security for patients and personnel. A proactive quality approach copied from the one implemented in the air transport industry has been established in our department. An Experience feed back committee (EFBC) has been set up to identify, record and analyze systematically all reported precursor events. Our final objective is to test and strengthen the security of the organization and the quality of care for patients. [less ▲]

Voltage instability is widely recognized as a significant threat of power system blackout. As far as real-time operation is concerned, there is a need for appropriate tools to identify dangerous contingencies and assess security margins. The Hellenic Interconnected System presents a structural geographical imbalance between the main generation site and the main load center. This imbalance leads to bulk power transfers over long distances leading to voltage stability problems in areas of the southern system during heavy load conditions. In order to improve the operational practices, a realtime Voltage Security Assessment (VSA) tool has been installed at the National Control Center of the Hellenic Transmission System Operator (HTSO). The scope of VSA is the analysis of the impact of significant contingencies and the determination of security margins in terms of power transfers or power consumption in load areas. The computations performed within the VSA tool are based on a Quasi-Steady-State simulation, a fast time-domain method well suited to the analysis of long-term voltage stability phenomena. VSA is performed on the current system state, provided by the Energy Management System (EMS) state estimator. The VSA application incorporates functions for filtering the contingencies, determining secure operation limits, and deriving post-contingency PV curves for the identified dangerous contingencies. This paper is a description of the experience and the added value gained by the application of the real-time VSA, in parallel with the existing EMS, at the control center of HTSO. [less ▲]

The aim of this study is to examine and compare how hemophilic adolescents and depressive hospitalized adolescents tell their own stories, how they build their identities in spite of the treatment constraints and how they involve themselves in different relationships. During an individual semi-structured interview, based on Mc Adams’ works, each teenager’s narrative was collected. Various measurements were taken. The discursive analysis and software were used to analyze the data base. First results show hemophilic boys speak about their disease spontaneously but they don’t identify only to it while depressive hospitalized adolescents define themselves exclusively by their mental disorder. Another report is that, opposed to depressive hospitalized adolescents, hemophilic boys invest hobbies, relationships with peers’ as much as non depressive adolescents even if those can feel different and sometimes restrained. The authors report their experience of 148 radical prostatectomies performed for adeno-carcinoma. They expose the reasons which have led them to adopt this kind of treatment and the reasons explaining a nearly exponential increase of the frequency of the operation during the last 5 years. They underline the importance of lymphadenectomy and the safety of frozen sections of the nodes. The surgical technique is briefly commented and the (low) morbidity of the operation is reviewed. They compare the results of RPV to those of external radiotherapy, watchful attitude or immediate hormonal treatment and they conclude in insisting on the benefit of the surgical approach as far as indications (which are defined) are strictly followed. A review of 20 cases of conservative surgery for urothelial tumors of the upper tract is presented. The morbidity is limited; the recurrence rate is around 15% in the ipsilateral urinary tract with a mean follow up of 41 months. Conservative surgery does not seem to carry a higher fatal risk as compared to more radical surgery. It has indications in some cases which are defined. [less ▲]
