Résumé de la conférence : «Elle n’est pas donnée à tout le monde la chance de s’aimer pour la vie, 10 ans 10 mois 10 secondes et nous voici, à plonger dans les eaux troubles de mes souvenirs lointains, si quelquefois je vois double c’est que l’enfance me revient...» Julien Clerc. Contrairement à certaines idées reçues, les familles monoparentales et recomposées ont toujours existé, mais l’évolution historique qui les concerne fait qu’à l’heure actuelle, elles sont plus fréquemment issues d’un choix, subi ou agi, que d’un décès. De la sorte, les familles monoparentales et recomposées connaissent toute une série de défis que nous tenterons d’identifier, tant pour les parents que pour les enfants. Ces défis ne concernent cependant pas que les familles, la société au sens large doit également en relever, tout comme le domaine psy, qui doit penser de nouveaux modèles de prise en charge, pour des familles dites nouvelles. Qu’est-ce que c’est une famille monoparentale ou recomposée? Est-ce encore une famille d’ailleurs? Que se passe-t-il quand la famille devient les familles? Quel est le chemin à parcourir, et celui qu’on oublie? Quel regard la recherche porte sur elles, quels apports peut-elle leur offrir? Avec quelles dérives? Et cette double vie dont parle Julien Clerc, peut-elle se combiner à une seule et même existence, bienveillante et surtout, heureuse? [less ▲]

We propose a family of nonlinear state feedback global stabilizers for all planar linear systems which are globally stabilizable by bounded inputs (namely, all non exponentially unstable linear systems). This family is parametrized by a nonlinear function whose selection can yield quasi time-optimal responses, where the "quasi" is required to achieve local exponential stability of the closed loop. The arising trajectories are quasi-time-optimal for arbitrarily large initial conditions; so, we expect the very simple proposed nonlinear control law to be very useful for embedded control applications with strong computational constraints. This paper proposes a new first-order approximation scheme used for solving structural optimization problems. It is based on approximations of the MMA family (MMA and GCMMA), but it utilizes the gradients and/or the function values at two successive design points to improve the quality of the approximation. In addition, this scheme can consider simultaneously monotonous and nonmonotonous structural behaviour. According to the characteristics of the treated problem, one of the approximations or a mix of them is automatically selected. Based on this approach, the accuracy of the approximated subproblems is improved and the solution process can be sped up. Numerical results compare the effectiveness of the method with previously derived approximations of the MMA family for shape optimization of trusses and for composite design problems. The benefit of using mixed approximations is also discussed. [less ▲]

This paper studies the role of family size in the design of optimal income taxation. We consider a second best setting where the government observes the number of children and the income of the parents but not their productivity. With a linear tax schedule the marginal tax rate is shown to decrease with the number of children, while the relationship between the demogrant and family size appears to be ambiguous. With two ability levels, optimal non-linear income tax implies zero marginal tax rates for the higher ability parents; low ability parents have positive marginal tax rates that decrease with family size.
