This work aims to develop a comparison between the Groupe µ’s Cognitive Semiotics and post-structural Greimassian Semiotics, especially as far as the Visual Rhetoric is concerned. The Semiotics of Groupe µ has constituted a Visual Rhetoric based on tropes, while Greimassian Semiotics has developed a theory of argumentation based on enunciation. This paper revisits the avenues that lead from these two classical views of Visual Rhetoric to some propositions for the constitution of a Semiotics of Social Practices, passing through a Semiotics of Perception.
