[more ▼] In regards to the works of CPDT (Conférence Permanente du Développement Territorial: Standing Conference regarding Land Use and Planning in Wallonia, Be), an interdisciplinary research between the university of Liège (Lepur) and the Catholic University of Louvain (CREAT) enabled the realization of a software. The aim of this software is to help in the conception or the evaluation of town planning projects sustainable development oriented. As a first stage, this tool has been created to evaluate on the environmental level projects of new buildings before their construction. Thanks to a dynamic website, this tool is scalable. Afterwards it could be improved regarding the propositions of the users. The tool is currently in its first version and enables users to test online their project and receive a first environmental evaluation of it including personalized recommendations based on a best practice guide. [more ▼] The Val-Benoît mini-campus, in a dilapidated state due to neglect, is currently under threat. Apart from its undoubtedly aesthetic qualities, most of the buildings also have an exceptional potential for redevelopment. Furthermore, their simple and resistant structure has enabled them to survive complete neglect over several years without any major damage. Nowadays, designated as a site for redevelopment by the Walloon Region, Val-Benoît deserves a great deal more than its current fate. [more ▼] The relationship between nature and urban development seems essentially a conflicting one. In actual fact, every urban development project deliberately originates in a land use choice, to the detriment, in many cases, of the natural space and to the great displeasure of environmentalists and other more or less concerned "citizens / local residents". Without attempting to deny this ongoing conflict, the article endeavours to show how contemporary town planning gives itself the means to transcend this contradiction and make us pass imperceptibly from the "grey city" to the "green and blue city". The authors do however demonstrate that it is necessary to establish non-heritage criteria to face new planning challenges and they draw the lessons of current research in this area. [more ▼] The author takes stock of a thorny issue : the accessibility of the University estate and the mobility caused by its activities; Difficulty of access seems to result less from the actual off-centre position of the estate than from the spatial dispersion of the commuters, making it difficult to organise an effective public transport service. He looks into the choice of public transport network connection points, the integration of new parking units on the site and the search for measures furthering the use of public transport. These measures include stepping up parking controls, encouraging carpooling or even the development of cycling-pedestrian links.
