[more ▼] For pomerons described by a sum of two simple-pole terms, a soft and a hard pomeron, the unitarity bounds from saturation in impact-parameter space are examined. We consider the effect of these bounds on observables linked with polarisation, such as the analyzing power A(N) in elastic proton-proton scattering, for LHC energies. We obtain the s and t dependence of the Coulomb-nuclear interference at small momentum transfer, and show that the effect of the hard pomeron may be observed at the LHC. [more ▼] The effects of saturation and unitarization for hadron-hadron scattering at LHC energies are explored in several models. It is shown that different choices of saturation parameters lead to sizable differences in the energy dependence of total cross sections, and to dramatic changes in elastic differential cross sections. [more ▼] Through a direct analysis of the scattering amplitude, we show that the preliminary measurement of AN obtained by the E950 Collaboration at different energies leads to the large slope of the scattering amplitude and are mainly sensitive to the chosen of the energy behavior of the p(s,t). [more ▼] A simple so-called dynamic epidemic model, for the evolution of an advancing interface through a two-dimensional medium containing mobile impurities is investigated. A short range repulsion between the front and the impurities leads to an aggregation process along the front, and to trapping of aggregates. The pattern of trapped impurities is found to be self-organized. The critical concentration of impurity for growth blocking on a square lattice is 0..56. The kinetics of this self-organization is analyzed and discussed. [less ▲] Detailed reference viewed: 10 (0 ULg) |
