The traditional state estimator relies on measurements affected by time skew and, while the whole system can be made observable, it cannot track the post-disturbance dynamics. Synchronized phasor measurements, on the other hand, can track those dynamics but, in a foreseeable future, they will be available in scarce configurations that do not allow estimating the whole system state. State reconstruction precisely aims at using the available phasor measurements to track the evolution of the power system - at least in a region of interest - in between two runs of a traditional state estimator. It minimizes under constraints a weighted least square objective involving both the phasor measurements and bus power pseudo-measurements relative to a reference state. The placement of phasor measurement units at the generator buses is recommended for accuracy. Tests are reported with phasor measurements obtained from time simulation of post-disturbance system evolution. The results deal with the effect on accuracy of the relative weights assigned to phasor and pseudo-measurements, the benefit of taking the reference bus powers from the last reconstructed instead of the pre-disturbance state, and the rate of the state reconstructions. Introduction: The study of normal structures of the sheep’s brain is very important to understand pathological changes caused by the bluetongue virus in the fetus’s brain at various stages of the gestation. Bluetongue is an arthropod-borne viral disease of domestic and wild ruminants. The serotype 8 is responsible for outbreaks in Northern Europe in 2006. This virus causes lesions in the brain of fetuses as hydrancephaly and porencephaly. The aim of this work is to improve knowledge of anatomy and histology of the central nervous system of the sheep. Methods: Seven heads of adult sheep and one from a fetus aged 4,5 months were used. All heads were first opened in the frontal area using bone’s saw and immerged in a formalin solution for 10 days. After a good fixation, the brains were extracted and sectioned. Transversal, frontal and sagittal sections were realized. The sections of two brains were stained with Berlin-blue and treated to be embedded in methylmetacrylate for gross morphology. The different parts of the 6 resting brains were then embedded in paraffin, cut and the histological sections were stained with haematoxylin/eosin, cresyl violet or by use of silver impregnation. Results: Gross morphological examination of the brains embedded in methylmetacrylate showed the detailed anatomy of the different parts. The staining with haematoxylin/eosin permitted to differentiate the grey matter, the different nucleus and the layers of cerebral and cerebellum cortex. The cresyl violet technique permitted to visualize the Nissl bodies and the silver impregnation revealed nerve fibers. In the fetus brain, blood vessels were very numerous in the brainstem, the cerebellum and the cerebrum. The grey matter was less organized and looser. Conclusion: This work establishes an anatomical and histological approach allowing future studies in ovine fetuses with and without brain lesions potentially caused by the bluetongue virus. [less ▲]

The possibilities to discriminate with hyperspectral imaging system, SWIR ImSpector N25E in grass mixtures of the pure species Festuca rubra L., Trifolium repens L., Agrostis capillaris L., Hieracium aurantiacum L., Arnica montana L.was the objective of this study. All the samples were collected from natural meadows, from the National Apuseni Park, Apuseni Mountains, from Gârda area. The samples were naturally dried then prepared using the protocol for NIRS analyze. The model built with PLS–DA, was used to demonstrate wether the classes discrimination between pure species is possible or not. The goal of this study was to see in other images if the pure species are or are not recognized according to the spectral data base. The potential of using the Hyperspectral Imaging NIR (Camera NIR) to discriminate or to identify pure species was confirmed. For this technique the MatLab program was used .A percentage of more than 96% correct prediction for species discrimination was obtained. This study should drive to a more important point, which is to verify whether the toxic species are or are not used as food for animals in the natural meadows. The floristic composition of a meadow can be determined only if we have in the data base, dates for each identified species, as being part of the mix. [less ▲]

Surface-charged nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning technique (ESP). For this purpose, a copolymer bearing carboxylic acid functions was added to a poly(D,L-lactide) solution just before ESP process. In a basic medium, negative charges were therefore revealed on fiber surface. By deposition of positively charged particles or polyelectrolytes, surface properties of the fibers could be tailor-made for a specific application. This versatile method can, for example, be applied to the preparation of new biomedical scaffolds. [less ▲]

Hypertension is a common treatable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Even when identified and treated, most patients with hypertension do not reach the blood pressure goal and they often need in fact three antihypertensive agents to achieve blood pressure control. Although various combinations of two therapies are currently available for the treatment of hypertension, development of more powerful therapies with 3 molecules is necessary to control more hypertensive patients. Amlodipine/Olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide (Sevikar/HCT°) is a new triple combination of antihypertensive agents that lower blood pressure via calcium channel blockade, angiotensin receptor blockade and diuretic action. Its potent triple mechanism of action is also likely to attenuate compound-specific adverse events, such as amlodipine-related peripheral oedema or sartan-induced hyperkalemia. Moreover, by reducing the number of pills to be taken every day, the compliance should be better. Currently available data show that such a combination is very powerful and well-tolerated allowing more patients with all grades of hypertension (especially those with the most severe forms) to reach the blood pressure target. The contraindications are those of each compound. [less ▲]
