The distribution and the present status of the polecat, stoat and weasel in Belgium are presented. At this time, these species are widely distribution all over the country and it seems that they aren't shortly threatened. Some original data on mortality causes are briefly discussed. Undoubtely, it appears that the major ones are trapping and killing by gamekeepers and road casualties, both accounting for more 70 % of the polecat's (n=96) and stoat's (n=45) losses and for 63% (n=101) of the weasel's ones. No information is available about possible death cases due to ingestion of poisoned baits. Poisoning, trapping and hunting are no longeur allowed in the northern part of Belgium (Flanders) but they are permitted in the southern part (Wallony) all over the year without any limitation (except for poisonning). With the legal protection of these animals in prospect, their dietary habits and their main behavioural and demographical characteristics are reviewed. [less ▲]

Several monobactams reacted with the serine dd-peptidases of Streptomyces R61 and Actinomadura R39 in a manner similar to that of bicyclic penicillins and cephalosporins. The dissociation constants of the Michaelis complexes formed between the R61 enzyme and sulfazecin (32 μM) and between the R39 peptidase and SQ 26324 (0.35 μM) had the lowest values ever observed with any β-lactam compound, suggesting an excellent fit of these two monobactams with the active sites of the respective enzymes. Azthreonam had a very poor inactivating potency, confirming its high selective reactivity towards the penicillin binding protein No. 3 of Escherichia coli. The Zn2+dd-peptidase (from Streptomyces albus G) had a high intrinsic resistance to β-lactam compounds whether they possessed a mono- or a bicyclic structure. [less ▲]

Several accuracy tests of the frequencies computation have been performed. They show that for a given model, the frequencies have errors lower than 2 micro-Hz. Several tests have also been made on the Henyey code. They show that the use of the same opacity formula as Bahcall et al. (1983) allows to reproduce their model with a good accuracy. The model has however frequencies systematically 12 micro-Hz larger than found by Ulrich and Rhodes. A model with diffusion of H and He has also been studied. Its frequencies are nearly the same as those of the standard model. [less ▲]
