The small oscillations of elastic containers partially filled with liquids are studied. After a brief review of the previously published work on this subject, a new variational formulation of the problem is presented. The application uses the finite element method and a new algorithm of solution is proposed. The accuracy of the method is illustrated by several examples including a two tanks launcher structure. Sedimentological study: Grain size analyses, morphoscopy, morphometry, heavy minerals. Sediments include: fluvial deposits, aeolian deposits, gelifracts. Some very flat pebbles got through a deep sump. A stalagmitic floor covered the fluvial sediments. Aeolian deposits, reworked by rainwash, are restricted to the entrance zone. Gelifraction occured in the same zone. [less ▲]

[less ▲]

"Ordinary" Noveril was compared with timed-release Noveril in a 6-wk double-blind crossover trial. Ss were divided into 2 groups--one with 11 depressed patients and the other with 9 depressed patients--and were evaluated by the Hamilton Rating Scale for depression, the Breulet Depression Scale, the Cattell Anxiety Scale, and the MMPI. There were no significant differences between groups at the beginning of treatment. At the end of 3 wks, both groups had improved, but Ss on "ordinary" Noveril improved more. Some of the effects gained at the end of 3 wks were lost at the end of 6 wks in both groups. It is concluded that both forms of Noveril possess antidepressant activity, but that the "ordinary" form is more potent than the timed-release form. The thaliacean fauna of the eastern Mediterranean (U.A.R. sector) includes the Salps Cyclosalpa pinnata polae Sigl, 1912, Thalia democratica (forma typical Forskal, 1775), Thalia orientalis Tokioka, 1937, Salpa fusiformis Cuvier, 1804, and the Doliolids Doliolina muelleri (Krohn, 1852), Doliolina muelleri krohni (Herdman, 1888), Doliolum denticulatum Quoy & Gaimard, 1824, Doliolum nationalis Borgert, 1894, (?) Dolioletta gegenbauri (Uljanim,1884). The fauna of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez includes the Salps (?) Cyclosalpa bakeri Ritter, 1905, (?) Cyclosalpa floridana (Apstein, 1894), Brooksia rostrata (Traustedt, 1893), Ritteriella amboinensis (Apstein, 1894), Iasis zonaria (Pallas, 1774), Salpa cylindrical Cuvier, 1804, and several species (according to van Soest, 1973) of the genus Thalia [Thalia cicar van Soest, 1973; Thalia orientalis Tokioka, 1937, and Thalia rhomboids (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824)], and the Doliolids Doliolina sp., Doliolina muelleri krohni (Herdman, 1888), Doliolina indicum (Neumann, 1906), Doliolum denticulatum Quoy & Gaimard, 1824, and Doliolum nationalis Borgert, 1894. This last species is especially abundant in the Gulf of Suez. The two Cyclosalps, Iasis zonaria and Doliolina indicum are newly recorded from the Red Sea. Pyrosoms are lacking in both sectors, maybe owing to an inadequate prospection. The two faunas are very different, having in common only a few species of worldwide occurrence. It seems little probable that exchange of Thaliacea has occurred between the two seas. [less ▲]
