A l'occasion d'une révision d'aménagement, un inventaire par échantillonnage a été organisé dans un ensemble de pessières dépendant du cantonnement forestier de Nassogne. Les observations dendrométriques obtenues de cette façon ont été utilisées subsidiairement dans le but de comparer la croissance des différents peuplements et de constituer des ébauches de tables de production. Le paragraphe 2 fournit une description des différents types de peuplements considérés (paragraphe 2.1), du mode d'échantillonnage qui a été adopté et des mensurations qui ont été réalisées (paragraphe 2.2). Le paragraphe 3 présente les formules de calcul utilisées (paragraphe 3.1) et les principaux résultats obtenus (paragraphe 3.2). Enfin, le paragraphe 4 est consacré à une discussion de ces résultats et à quelques conclusions. [less ▲]

The N-acyl substituent of muramic acid in the cell walls of some species of Actinomycetales and of the related family of Corynebacteriaceae has been studied. The N-glycolyl derivative, recently identified in Mycobacterium smegmatis, has been found in the three other species of Mycobacterium studied: M. kansasii, M. tuberculosis BCG, and M. phlei. The classical N-acetyl derivative has been found in Streptomyces albus and Corynebacterium fermentans. [less ▲]

In a restraining device, providing a constant localization and easy placement of stimulating electrodes, rats were contioned to a push a front panel in order to reduce the intensity of a shock which otherwise increased regularly every 10 sec. Rapid contioning was obtained from all subjects. They showed a very stable behavior, with negligible inter- or intra-individual variability throughout very long experimental sessions. The operant nature of the response was demonstrated further in extinction, where no shock was delivered, and in situations where the animal could not change the predetermined intensity of the shock. The interpretaion of the obtained threshold was discussed with reference to previous studies on titration schedule. It was suggested that, with the parameters used, the shock intensity at which it was maintained by the rats' behavior, had the value of a warming signal, and that, in this particular case, the titration schedule mainly discriminative avoidance behavior rather than escape behavior.
