Recent research indicates a growing interest in motivation and therapeutic education of patients with chronic pain. Many ideological currents have thus developed much knowledge and new theories about motivation and therapeutic education. The purpose of the present work is to contextualize the concepts of motivation and therapeutic education of patients with chronic pain, and, finally to focus on the importance of using these concepts in a set of postmodern paradigms. This then allows the use of a rational combination of pharmacologic, physical, psychological, and surgical techniques. It is essential to gain the patient's confidence, collaboration, and compliance.
