The optimization of the photocatalytic activity and hydrophilic conversion of TiO 2 is an active research area in the field of self-cleaning materials and energy storage/conversion. One major focus is the crystalline phase of TiO 2, known to be the most efficient of the anatase structures. Another issue is the decoration of TiO 2 with noble metals, which act as charge carrier traps for electrons. The latter hinders or reduces the electron-hole recombination rate and often leads to a more efficient photocatalytic activity. In this paper, we describe how an interlayer consisting of 3-4nm silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) promotes TiO 2 anatase crystallisation and has a positive effect on the photoinduced catalytic and hydrophylic properties of TiO 2 thin films. Ag-NPs and TiO 2 were deposited by magnetron sputtering in the same reactor in a two-step process: a) condensation of Ag-NPs produced in the gas phase thanks to a high-pressure discharge, and b) conventional TiO 2 magnetron deposition in oxide mode. Four temperatures from RT to 288°C were investigated and film thickness was 80nm. Particle size and film structure were determined by TEM, HRTEM and XRD. Photocatalytic activities of the samples were tracked by the evaluation of the surface hydrophilicity after UV illumination and 24. hours post-illumination, and by UV-induced palmitic acid degradation. © 2011. From a case-study based on an analysis model, which takes into account four levels of explanation (personal, interpersonal, group and organizational), and includes the study of the interactions between these different levels, this report puts forward six observations: (1) the importance of performing the analysis on several levels, (2) the existence within harassment situations of two types of process (victimizing and conflictual), (3) the fact that these processes can co- exist at different levels of analysis, (4) the existence of interactions between processes, (5) the variability of a situation across time, and (6) the necessity of distinguishing two categories of influence involved in contextual processes. From these conclusions, the authors develop a new analysis model, which is process- based, integrative and dynamic. [less ▲]

[less ▲]

The beginning of a training session usually constitutes a crucial step in the successful facilitation of a group session and it is clear that the strategies used at that stage can strongly impact the remainder of the session. From the point of view of the science of group facilitation, how to initiate a training session is therefore an important question and determines, amongst others, the choice of method and materials used by the facilitator to start the activity. Training sessions usually begin with one of two types of activities: activities during which the participants are introduced and activities centered on an exchange of what participants associate with particular subjects. Rare are the activities which combine these two dimensions. In this report, we demonstrate that these types of activities are part of the training strategies. We describe, model and compare these three approaches to finally propose methodologies based on the third one. [less ▲]

This structured experience addresses four goals: to allow the participants to introduce themselves to each other; to facilitate interpersonal sharing; for the sessions focusing specifically on interpersonal relationships, to raise awareness of the different dimensions of interpersonal encounters; and finally, for the sessions focusing specifically on creativity, to foster reflection on the relationship between oneself, others, the work that is produced, and the audience to whom it is addressed. This article aims at identifying the characteristics of major conflicts in organisations as seen by the professionnals. This survey points out 24 indicators of a major conflict clustered around three main organising elements:the time space element, the processes and the consequences. The results tend to show that, according to professionals, a major conflict situation causes a deep change within the organisation system as it leads not only to a broadening of the conflict to other elements within the system but also to a reduction of its complexity and of the variety of its configuration [less ▲]

The aim of this paper is to carry out a semantic analysis of the definitions proposed in the scientific literature and in legal texts to describe workplace victimization phenomena. Starting with the observation that there is a great diversity in how these phenomena are considered, the authors attempted to identify recurrences and differences between these various definitions. Three semantic poles were identified: the consequences for people and the environment, hostile behaviours, and the resources of the parties in which various components could be studied. Two questions promoting debate also emerged: the necessity for the author’s intention to talk about a victimization situation, and the place of conflict in harassment processes. Analysis of these definitions led to critical reflection about the problem of evaluation, diagnosis and the intervention relating to such situations. [less ▲]
