[more ▼] Since the end of the eighties, the globalization and development of new information and communication technologies have played a great part in complicating exchanges between companies and their various stakeholders (staff, customers/users and business partners). New forms of organization of work result in more and more relationships between people of different nationalities and cultures. Thanks to virtuality, a lot of companies can develop connections with people from various cultural backgrounds which can be co-located or distributed (with partners situated abroad, including in different time zones). But to maximize this potential, organization must overcome different complexifications levels of virtual communication and multicultural. So, we suggest studying the impact of cultural diversity on the quality and efficiency of virtual communications. There are already many studies about the impact of diversity on non-virtual context but very little about the impact of diversity on virtual exchanges. The originality of this article is to focus on the influence of intercultural and virtuality. [more ▼] Since the seventies, the modern organizations are regularly confronted with management of change policies. These have become more pronounced since the 2008 crisis. Nevertheless, numerous studies show a high failure rate of the downsizing, ranging form 53 % to 80 % (according to the objective and the country). In spite of this report, there are not a lot of studies about this phenomenon and even less in Belgium. So, this research aims towards a better understanding of the downsizing’s vicious circles. With this intent, we studied through a qualitative and systemic approach, a downsizing to reveal a series of potential hidden costs. So, we were able to discover dysfunction mechanisms located in the chinks of the zones of uncertainty engendered by the rationalization accentuation of the process and the HRM. It can potentially provoke risks of degradation of the social climate, the loss of the company’s adaptability to its environment, more frequent blockages of the production process, constitution of clandestine stocks, etc. These are the downsizings hidden costs. [more ▼] It is the study, through interviews, participating observation and documentary investigation, of the resources which the unemployed persons have alongside those that they create and those, already existing, that they mobilize. The notion of resource exceeds the purely material frame to include also social, cultural, political and organizational resources. To do this, we have to investigate both the isolated unemployed persons and activist collectives (F.G.T.B., C.S.C ., "Chômeur actif", "Chômeur pas chien !" et "Stop chasse aux chômeurs"). We discovered that the difficulties connected to the way of life of unemployed persons (feeling of uselessness, financial difficulties, boredom, social isolation, etc.) generate, according to the individuals social contexts and trajectories of life, either a brake or fuel towards the constitution of a protest movement. Our study, also shows, by the comparison of independent collectives and trade unions, that without support and relays with the workers, the unemployed persons collectives and associations are compromised.
