En raison de leur mauvais état de conservation, la centaine de papyrus qui constituent la bibliothèque latine découverte dans ce que l'on nomme la Villa des Pisons, à Herculanum, ont toujours été négligés par les chercheurs, à la différence des papyrus grecs. Il n'existe aucune étude d'ensemble sur cette bibliothèque en grande partie inédite. Le volume de M. Capasso, Les papyrus latins d'Herculanum. Greek papyri (IV/III B.C.-A.D. VI/VII) supply many informations on the modalities of transmission and distribution of the medical knowledge, particularly in Graeco-Roman and Byzantine Egypt. Completed by the testimony of paraliterary (recipes) and documentary (lists, inventories, letters, contracts, etc.) papyri, the literary papyri allow in particular to observe the process of edition, presentation and comment of medical treatises already known (Hippocraticum Corpus, Nicander, Dioscorides, Heliodorus, Herodotus med., Soranus, Galen, etc.), but also the composition and copy of other anonymous medical texts, like questionnaries and collections of definitions, probably used in a school context. In the literary papyri, the presence of a final, initial, or noted on a label title, not only identifies certainly the contents, but is often also, with other codicologic peculiarities, the indication of a copy of library. Do the Greek literary papyri of medicine present an indication of this kind? Under what shape(s) are identified the authors and the medical treatises? We try to answer these questions by examining not only the papyri the author of which is identified, but also the adespota where are quoted some titles, sometimes accompanied with the name of their author. Making it, we distinguish the titles "instruments" of the titles "references", which are mentioned by the very author or by the other authors. [less ▲]
